Are Getting Married

19th AUgust, 2023

Our Story

Welcome to the PARTY

We are incredibly excited to welcome our friends and family to the island for a weekend celebrating love, family and friendship.  We cannot wait to commit to forever with each other in front of all the people who fill our lives with so much love and happiness.

We met walking down North Water Street in Edgartown nearly 9 years ago, and now to marry on the opposite end of the same street these years later is more than a dream come true.  There are no words to express our gratitude to you all for joining us in this ceremony and celebration on the island we love the most, in the place where it all began.

We love you guys! Cheers to August on the Vineyard

Love,

Taylor & Steve (Elvis too)

Sunday

Enjoy the rest of your stay!

(Please see ideas for breakfast below)

The dress code is island chic; formal attire with coastal vibes.

We recommend guests wearing heels opt for wedges to have the best experience possible. We will be on the grass for much of the evening.

There will not be parking at the church or the reception site. If walking to the church is not an option, we recommend scheduling an Uber or Lyft ahead of time, and allowing lots of time for error as ride services can be unreliable in the busy summer months.

Just you, no gifts!

Food on the island

BREAKFAST

Rosewater Market (best breakfast in Edgartown, healthy options)

Behind the Bookstore Cafe (best coffee, expensive, high quality eats)

Espresso Love (avoid the line and order online to pick up on the patio!)

Dock Street Diner (greasy, delicious, cheap)

Tocopuro (good coffee, smoothies and food to-go)

Lucky Hanks (cozy, homey vibes located just outside Edgartown village)

The Airfield (unique spot for simple food, watch biplanes take off and land)

LUNCH

Rosewater Market (Take Away / Counter Service)

Atlantic (high end, large portions, on the water, good for groups)

Seafood Shanty (divey spot with rooftop deck overlooking harbor)

Backyard Tacos (eggplant tacos are A+, the spicy margs are fire, get the house hot sauce!)

DINNER

Alchemy (a favorite)

The Covington (great pasta, cocktails, fresh/local ingredients)

19 Raw (great food, surf & turf)

The Port Hunter (music after dinner, fun bar)

Atlantic (great cocktails, deserts to share and a DJ after 10pm)

L'eotile (romantic and celebratory)

Detante (date night, also good for wine and cheese)

OUTSIDE EDGARTOWN

The Outermost Inn (our favorite place, **make reservation far in advance**)

Garde East (Reserve to sit on upstairs deck and go early for drinks in the sand)

Beach Road (great food, upscale yet you can opt for take away and eat on picnic tables outside)

The Chilmark Store (best pizza on the island)

Orange Peel Bakery (go to the side door for homemade treats/snacks/pies, pizza oven some days)

Mermaid Farm Stand (the feta cheese!)

Morning Glory Farm (grocery store alternative.. in Edgartown, but located outside the main village)

The Scottish Bakehouse (the Portuguese bread)

Larsen's Fish Market (Fishing village of your dreams. Order lobster and eat outside, BYOB)

Backdoor Donuts (Late night treats in Oak Bluffs.. bakery opens their back door until midnight)

The Chilmark Tavern (upscale yet comfortable dinner spot, BYOB)

Island Activities

Harbor sail on the CatBoat or Magic Carpet sailboats!

Island Hiking/Walking Trails

The island trails are gorgeous and there are even moments you might think you are in Vermont!  ... Beware of Ticks!

West Tisbury Farmers Market (Wednesdays & Saturday’s 9am - Noon) (20 min drive from Edgartown) *Vietnamese Cold Rolls are the best and sell out by 10am-ish!*

BIKES

Many hotels and home rentals will offer bikes to borrow, plus there are a few great spots to rent from in town! A nice bike ride from town would be to head out to South Beach via the Bike Path in Katama (part of Edgartown).  You could also bike between Edgartown and Oak Bluffs for a full morning or afternoon adventure.  If you are an avid biker, many people enjoy biking all the way to the bike ferry in Lobsterville and crossing over to Menemsha, a quaint fishing village.

If you are staying in Katama, we recommend you have a bike for easy access into Edgartown Village.

YOGA

Vineyard Vinyasa - Taylor’s Favorite Hot Yoga Spot in Edgartown

Yoga on the Vine - Another great spot in Edgartown, just outside the main village area.

Yoga Barn (located Up Island, 20-25 min from Edgartown)

The Red Baron

See the island from above in an open air biplane!

Flying Horses Carousel in Oak Bluffs

The nation's oldest platform carousel.  Excellent rainy day activity for kids.

The Gingerbread house village of Oak Bluffs (aka The Campground)

Fun for all ages. Cool cultural, historic walk.

Take a drive up to the Aquinnah Cliffs… pure magic!! The island is home to an abundance of Native American history and Aquinnah is still kept by the Wampanoag tribe

Menemsha Fishing Village

Tiny, historic fishing village.  A must see to complete any trip to the island.

Larsens is the best spot for a a proper New England seafood experience! Have one member of your group get in line to order and everyone else grab a seat outside, using the lobster traps as table! First come first serve, counter service.

Chilmark General - Best Pizza on island at the best general store.

Eat on the porch in a rocking chair, lots of local gossip to overhear.  They also have great lunch and breakfast sandwiches & plus a little bit everything in the way of grocery items.

If you’re up island / headed that way, stop into Ally’s General Store, the islands oldest business! Their sandwich shop 7A is a great spot to grab a quick lunch.

Mermaid Farm

Last of the OG dairy farms on the island and our favorite farm stand! Tiny little spot, easy to miss... get the feta (if they have any left!)!!

The Grey Barn

Cool, new and modern farm stand with very nice cheeses, meats and produce… worth a stop! Located across the street from the yoga barn!

BEACHES

Fuller Street Beach / Lighthouse Beach in Edgartown (calm waters, nice for kids, in town)

South Beach in Katama (Bigger waves, fun for everyone… pick up lunch on the way at the Katama General

Store https://katamageneral.com)… can bike or drive from town

Philbin Beach and Moshup Beach in Aquinnah

 35 min drive from Edgartown

Aquinnah has the most gorgeous red clay cliffs which makeup the backdrop of these up island beaches.

Getting There

getting there & Accommodatins

Getting to Martha's Vineyard

* If you are staying in downtown Edgartown, you will not need a car to enjoy the weekend celebrations, as all events will be in Edgartown village (downtown Edgartown).  Please keep in mind, parking in downtown Edgartown in August is very limited.

* If you are planning to bring your car onto the island, we recommend making your reservation immediately. Ferries for the weekend of August 19th will sell out fast. The Steamship Authority is the only car ferry.

Car rentals are available on the island, and while we recommend booking in advance, it can be possible to make last minute reservations. A car does allow you to easily see the entire island, but the Vineyard is lucky to have public transportation as well as Uber and Lyft. Hitch hiking is also acceptable :)

Direct Flights

Flying direct to MVY is the easiest option for most guests coming from out of town.  The airport is a 10min drive from downtown Edgartown-- Ubers, Lyfts, taxis as well as car rentals are all available at the airport. Reserve rental cars in advance (not needed for most).

The most number of flights as well as the cheapest flight options are out of the NYC area.

There are direct flights to the Vineyard from a number of airports including JFK, LGA, NJ (Teterboro), White Plains, Charlotte, Washington DC/Baltimore, Boston, Hyannis, Providence, Provincetown, Nantucket, New Bedford ... New flights are being added each year.

Ferries

The Steamship Authority

The Steamship Authority is the only car ferry (walk-on passengers welcome too!!).  For walk-on passengers, parking is available at Palmer Lot in Falmouth, and then passengers are transported via steamship authority bus to the ferry terminal in Woods Hole (15 min transfer time).

Pied Piper

The Pied Piper is the only ferry which arrives in Edgartown. This is the preferred ferry for walk-on passengers staying in Edgartown Village.

Parking is available at ferry terminal in Falmouth, but please do make a reservation before arrival.

The Island Queen

from Falmouth (near Pied Piper)

This ferry arrives in downtown Oak Bluffs (a 10-15 min Uber/Lyft/Taxi into Edgartown center .. or take the #13 Bus)

The Hy-Line Fast Ferry

from Hyannis to Oak Bluffs

Another solid option. This ferry company also runs between Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.

Accommodations

* Our wedding will be taking place during peak season, we are encouraging our guests to book travel and accommodations ASAP as both hotels and the car ferry will sell out. *

All below hotel options are in the Edgartown Village and will not require a car to enjoy the festivities.

The Edgartown Collection - Lark Hotels

All lovely, boutique properties in town.  The Christopher is as close as can be to both the church and the reception.

The Harborside Inn

Awesome location, right on the harbor, pool with harbor views, family friendly

Vineyard Square Hotel & Suites

Centrally located in the heart of Edgartown, a great option.

Edgar Hotel

A new hotel, a few minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of lower Main Street, but conveniently has a fun pub/restaurant on site, called Town.  The hotel also has convenient parking and is located next-door to the Edgartown Stop & Shop.

Harbor View Hotel

The big, swanky hotel in town— Amazing views of the lighthouse and outer harbor.

The Charlotte Inn

Super posh, very quiet, romantic, has an upscale restaurant on site.

The Kelley House ( Faraway Martha's Vineyard)

Just completed a gut renovation, and reopening as Faraway Martha's Vineyard. Centrally located.  Pricier than the hotel's predecessor.

Winnetu

Similar vibe to the Harbor View, but not located in town.  The Winnetu is out at South Beach in Katama, just a few minutes drive (or 20 min bike ride) from Main Street.  The hotel does have a car shuttle and a boat shuttle into town as well.

Airbnb, VRBO are other excellent options

Chappaquiddick, aka Chappy

If you want a remote, in nature feel, but still want to be close to downtown Edgartown, Chappy is a great spot to look for a rental. BUT please keep in mind the ferry stops at midnight (this is just a short 2 minute ferry ride across the harbor). You would likely want/need a car if staying on Chappy as well.

Up Island

Additionally, there is always the option to stay in another area of the island.  If you are interested in having a more nature focused trip to the Vineyard, we recommend checking out Airbnb’s in Chilmark and Aquinnah as well as the Beach Plum Inn + Menemsha Inn and Cottages. This is the farmland + small fishing village part of the island!

*We recommend booking accommodations as soon as possible*
